(Lexington, MA) Evan Walsh (pictured) tossed a complete game and the Chiefs rallied from a 5-2 deficit, scoring twice in the top of the sixth then adding three more in top of the seventh, to come away with a 7-5 win over the Blue Sox in Lexington on Thursday night.

The Chiefs staked Walsh to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning off Blue Sox starter Pat McGowan. Juan Parra singled, Miles Reid walked, and Teddy Dziuba singled to load the bases. An Andrew Caulfield sacrifice fly to right scored Parra with the first run before a Ryan Noone RBI groundout scored Reid with the second.

The Blue Sox quickly answered in the home half of the first and tied the game at 2-2 on Julian Alvarez’s two run homer.

Walsh and McGowan cruised through the next three frames until the Blue Sox made it a 5-2 game on Jean Carlos Ramirez’s three run pinch hit homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Chiefs came right back to make it 5-4 in the top of the sixth inning facing reliver Robbie Cobb. Doubles from John Baptista and Nick Valdario, sandwiched around a walk to Nate Witkowski and an RBI fielder’s choice from Chris Klein, accounted for the runs.

Walsh set the Blue Sox down in the home of the sixth setting up the seventh inning dramatics. Things started innocently enough when Borja Jones-Berasaluce got Reid to fly to left for the first out. Dziuba got the rally going with a single and when Caulfield doubled the Chiefs suddenly had the tying and go ahead runs in scoring position. The Blue Sox then intentionally walked Noone to load the bases and Dziuba scored the tying un on an infield error off the bat of Baptista. Jones Berasaluce struck out Witkowski for the second out before consecutive walks to Klein and Valdario pushed across two more runs to give the Chiefs a 7-5 lead.

Walsh never left the issue in doubt as he struck out the Lexington side in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

With the win Walsh goes to 2-1 on the season. The lefty allowed eight hits, four earned runs, and struck out seven.

The 13-5 Chiefs are off on Friday and Saturday. The club returns to action on Sunday at 4:00 PM when they meet the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field.
