Caulfield and Richard Lead Chiefs to 9-7 Win Over Lexington Bulldogs

(Malden, MA) Andrew Caulfield had a homer and double, driving in four runs, when the Chiefs held off the Lexington Bulldogs 9-7 at Maplewood on Wednesday evening.

The Chiefs opened up a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Bulldogs came roaring back to tie things up at 7-7 with a single run in the second and six runs in the fourth inning.

Veteran Lefty Jonathan Richard tossed three scoreless innings, in relief of starter Josh Desai and reliver Jon Chotkowski, to get his second win of the season. Desai went the the first 3.2 innings before giving way to Chotkowski who got the final out of the fourth inning to keep the game tied at 7-7. Richard struck out two and allowed just three hits.

Teddy Dziuba and Miles Reid each had three hits and drove in a run, and John Baptista hit a solo homer to bolster the Chiefs’ 11 hit offense.

Caulfield (pictured) now has three homers on the year and leads the ICL with 23 RBI’s.

The 12-5 Chiefs are right back in action on Thursday when they travel to Lexington to meet the Blue Sox at 8:00 PM.
