Wakefield- Righty Jarrod Marchesi twirled a neat two hitter as the Merchants beat the Chiefs 6-0 at Walsh Field on Wednesday night.
The former Everett High star, who now pitches at Bentley College, retired the first 15 Chiefs in a row before yielding a sixth inning single to Matt Boleski.
The Chiefs Mike DiCato desreved a much better fate, allowing just five hits and three earned runs. DiCato struck out five and walked just two.
The Chiefs complete the home and home series with the Merchants at Playstead on Thursday night at 6:00 PM. Righty Mike Chandler (Hamilton, MA, Merrimack College) will be the starter for the Chiefs. The Merchants, looking to firm up a playoff spot, are expected to counter with veteran Chicago Cubs farmhand Steve Coffey.
