Medford- Righty Aram Manoukian threw five and one third innings of no hit baseball and rookie catcher Danny Chaisson of UMass Lowell belted a three run homer as the Reds jumped all over the young Chiefs 9-1 at Playstead Park on Tuesday evening.

Manoukian was dominant and took a no-no into the the bottom of the sixth when Doug Heald (Tewksbury, MA, Merrimack) broke up his bid with a clean single to center.

Manoukian easily set the Chiefs down and the closest the locals came to a hit in the first five innings was in the second when first baseman John Lynch (Villanova University) made a spectacular grab of a laser off the bat of Mike Andre that was earmarked for the right field corner.

The Reds roughed up three Chiefs pitchers for nine runs, including starter Mike Chandler (3 IP, 2 R, 2H) who departed after three innings with some minor arm stiffness.

Chaisson delivered the big blow of the night, a three run shot to left in the fifth, off reliver Matt Phlean.  Mark Blake, in his first appearance of the season, worked the sixth and seventh for the Chiefs alllowing a run and couple of hits.

The Chiefs averted the shutout in the seventh against Reds reliever Brad Kittle (Framingham St.) on hits from Justin Crisafulli and Chandler and a RBI single from pinch hitter Jimmy Buldini.

With the win ,Watertown goes to 3-1 on the year while the Chiefs fall to 2-3-1.

Former Malden Catholic all-scholastic and present UMass-Amherst righty Mike DiCato will make the first start of his ICL career on Wednesday night when the Chiefs travel to Trum Field in Somerville to take on the Cassell Club at 7:00 PM.
