Frosh Soph Girls - EBAL Championship Meet Summary

Posted by Mike Davis at Nov 2, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Frosh-Soph Girls race is first up, and the Mustangs quickly show the league that they're ALL BUSINESS today, with a solid performance by the lady Stangs FS team.  Sophomore Anna Hoyt stays with the leaders, letting the standout runners from Dougherty Valley set the early pace, but Anna closes in on the second mile and sprints past with less than 400 meters to go to claim the individual league title in 13:07.  Fellow Sophs Kelly Peterson (4th) and Natalie Scott (6th) break into the top seven to earn the coveted "All League" certificates.  San Ramon Valley HS came ready for a fight today, placing nine runners between Natalie and Soph Jen Aceto (4th MV, 27th place).  Freshman Kaitlin Day was the 5th and final scorer for MV in 28th place.  Frosh Brynne Terry and Soph Ariel Carpenter close out the team (6th and 7th runner).

When the dust settled, Monte Vista and SRV were tied at 56 points a piece, with SRV being awarded 1st place based on the 6th runner tie breaker.

Emily Bartz, Lauren Negi and Morgan Biagiotti broke into the top 50 as well.

A great start to the meet, and many many PR's by the FS Girls today.

Frosh Soph Boys - EBAL Championship Meet Summary

Posted by Mike Davis at Nov 2, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Taking note of the F/S Girls strong start, the Boys go out and complete their standout season by shutting the door on the rest of the EBAL F/S Boys today, winning the meet with an outstanding low score of 26 points.  The Mustangs had 4 runners earn All-League, and had all 5 scorers in by the 13th position.  Running in their signature lead pack, Frosh Josh Smiley just pulls away from teammate Soph Amis Matulionis to claim the individual EBAL FS Boys Title in an impressive 10:38 clocking.  Amis is 2nd in 10:39.  Soph Jake Erlick finished a close 4th, with Freshman Kevin Ho sprinting across in 6th place.  Frosh Zach Chambers is in 13th, while Sophomores Elliott Killick and Cameron Baily complete the top 7.

Monte Vista's next 7 were better than most of the other teams first squad, with Brandon Rebottaro, Derek Giovanetti, Sebastian DeLuca, Paulo Rigo and Michael Garaventa all finishing in the top 30 (out of 110 runners).  A deep and talented squad indeed.

Great season boys.

JV Girls - EBAL Championship Meet Summary

Posted by Mike Davis at Nov 2, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Junior Varsity Girls completed their solid season by taking 2nd place today in the EBAL Championship meet.  Granada captured the overall title with a score of 23, to the Mustangs 40 points.  Taysa Bowers earns All-League with her 7th place finish, pacing the team.  Close behind is Brittany Randall, running only her second race after coming back from an injury.  She is 9th.  Alex D'Souza and Kirsten Ratliff come in 12th and 13th, while Jacqueline Rush is the 5th scorer in 15th place.  That's all 5 in by 15th place - a great pack.  Kim Chin (18th) and Kristen Hines (21st) are MV's 6th and 7th runner.

The Mustangs were hardly finished there, as the JV girls sent 6 more runners across the line by the 32nd place.  For those keeping score at home, that's 13 runners home by 32nd!  Kristin Hugo, Anna DeChant, Pamela Peters, Lindsay Peugh, Tania Abdollahi and Mellisa Ng formed the solid 'second' pack for MV.

Congrats to all the JV Girls, especially the departing seniors, for ending the season on such a high note!

JV Boys - EBAL Championship Meet Summary

Posted by Mike Davis at Nov 2, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Not to be outdone by the F/S Boys performance, the JV Boys toed the line and came ready to answer all comers.  Getting out fast, five Mustangs formed a tight front pack that would spell trouble to any challengers.  Close behind, an MV chase pack made sure that the outcome would be unquestioned.  Amador took the top two spots, but then Cameron Tremblay-Adams was close behind for 3rd place in 11:01.36.  Before Cameron was very far in the chute, Jr Alex Morris (4th), Sr Taylor Durand (5th) and Sr Tyler Breen (6th) crossed the line.  Jr Chris Hassoon was the critical 5th man in 10th place, sealing an impressive 28 pt total score for First Place EBAL!  5 in the top 10!  And Jr's Colton Anderson and Eric Bergquist were right there as 6th and 7th men finishing in 17th and 18th place respectively.

Five of the next ten runners were also Mustangs, as Alex Zai, Michael Slap, Michael Buesa,  Ben Ten Elshof  and Christoher Tam were all in by 28th place.

Head JV Coach Austin Glimme was extremely proud, getting the performances out of the team that he had predicted from Day One!  No lifetime of shame for Coach Austin!

Congrats JV Boys - 2007 EBAL League Champs
