AHS MB Update - 9-26-18

Posted by Colin Woelfle at Sep 30, 2018 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The band did great last weekend with Homecoming and the Plymouth Parade, hopefully you were able to see them in action. Here is some information for the next two weeks and beyond.

Wednesday, 9/26 - Rehearsal - 6:45-8:15pm
Due to field availability we will rehearse from 6:45-8:15pm.

Friday, 9/28 - Football Game - 3:30pm call time; 5:00pm Kick-off
The start time is not new, but make sure you have the correct time on your schedule for Friday. For those students wanting to stay at school, we are collecting $3 and will be serving pizza in the Band Room at 3:00pm. Please bring payment to Mr. Pillmer by NOON on Friday.

Monday, 10/1 - Rehearsal - 6:00-8:15pm
We will meet inside and then head outside, dress for the weather.

Wednesday, 10/3 - NO REHEARSAL
Because of the football schedule and all of the hard work the students have put in so far this season, we are able to cancel this rehearsal. Enjoy the night off!!

Saturday, 10/6 - Kelly Drive Parade - 1:00pm
There are several different details for this short, informal parade performance.
  • Students will NOT be wearing full uniforms, but their marching band t-shirts with either jeans or khaki shorts (depending on the weather). The directors will make a decision and all marchers are expected to match.
  • We will NOT be meeting at school. Students will meet at the SEA Elementary School parking lot (1751 Kelly Dr, Golden Valley, MN 55427) at 12:30pm and we ask that you carpool if at all possible.
  • Students will need to bring their instrument home from school and anyone needing assistance should speak to a director.
  • The parade begins at 1:00pm and students are free to stay and enjoy the festival after our performance.

Saturday, 10/27 - Anoka Halloween Parade - 1:00pm
We have received information from the parade organizers and the schedule looks like this:

  • 12:00pm - Meet at AHS 1
  • 12:15pm - Depart AHS
  • 1:00 - Parade begins
  • 1:50pm - (approx.) AHS enters parade
  • 2:15pm - (approx.) AHS ends parade
  • 3:00pm - (approx.) Return to AHS

If you are planning to attend the parade, please make a transportation plan to get your son or daughter home from Armstrong. The parade will continue long after we are done and traffic can be very heavy with many detours. Students need to be picked up from school in a timely manner.
Attached to this email is a map of the Anoka Parade Area.

AHS MB Update - 9-5-18

Posted by Colin Woelfle at Sep 17, 2018 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hopefully you are having a successful transition back into the school year. We are gearing up for more performances and here is some information to get you through the next two weeks:

-Rehearsal Tonight - 9/5 - 6:00-8:15pm

-Summer/Fall Fundraiser
Please return your order forms and payment for the fundraiser that was distributed at the August 13th parent meeting as soon as possible. Bring it to rehearsal tonight or to class during the school day.

-Football Game - Friday, 9/7 - 5:30pm Call Time
Meet in the Band Room at 5:30pm for our first home football game (make sure you have your black shoes, socks, shirt, and gloves). We will follow the schedule explained in the Marching Band Handbook. Group A will be dismissed after halftime on 9/7 & 9/28 and Group B will be dismissed after halftime on 9/21 & 10/17. The groups are attached to this email.

-Rehearsal - Monday, 9/10 - 6:00-8:15pm

-Band Booster Meeting - Monday, 9/10 - 7:00-8:00pm - AHS Band Room

-Band Stand Blast - Friday, 9/14 - Periods 3 & 4
Students will be excused from class during periods 3 & 4 to perform for the Armstrong attendance area 4th and 5th grade students. They should make sure they are current in the classes they will miss. It works best if students have their black shirt and shorts on when they arrive to school so they do not have to use a restroom to change into their uniform. Make sure you have your black shoes, socks, gloves, and t-shirt.

-Golden Valley Days Parade - Saturday, 9/15
  • 8:15am - Call Time at AHS
  • 8:30am - Load and Depart AHS
  • 9:30am - Parade Start 10:15am - Return to AHS (approx)

The band has been working hard and we are looking forward to the upcoming performances. If you have questions, please do not reply to this email, start a new thread with the information listed below:

AHS MB Update - 8-27-18

Posted by Colin Woelfle at Aug 29, 2018 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
With what appears to be impending rain, we are going to take our formal picture during rehearsal this evening. If possible, please wear lightweight clothing that you can slip your uniform over. We will be lining up by height for the picture, so if you are one of our shorter students please wear your black marching band shoes. If you do not have them yet, we can pull some for you to borrow. Students who were absent during uniform fitting on 8/16 will have a chance to try their uniform during the first half of rehearsal. Color guard please wear your black guard pants or black leggings (if you have not purchased your pants yet).

Just a reminder, tomorrow night is Freshman Orientation. All incoming 9th grade students will participate in the orientation activities and have no marching band obligations. All 10th-12th grade students will meet in the band room at 6:00pm and be done around 7:30pm. Please wear your State Fair Uniform.

We have issued marching band shirts to students and have a few left over, if you are interested in purchasing a 2018 AHS Marching Band t-shirt for $12 please let me know (please email me again even if you already have, it is very buried in my email inbox right now).
