Rockets go 7 wins and 2 losses in the October Monster Bash taking 2nd Place.

This October Monsters Bash was filled with spooky umpires, players and coaches. Saturday all the umpires dressed up along with the players of the Rockets 12U '92 Team. But what was more spooky was the way the Rockets played during pool play. After taking 2nd place in the Oktoberfest Tournament the Rockets went into this tournament looking for their first championship win. However after 3 pool games and scoring more than 34 runs and allowing only 3 the Rockets faced the 2nd year Blue Springs Lightning Gold. After 3 innings the Rockets lead the Lightning Gold by 4, then with bats on fire and allot of determination the Gold started hitting the gaps which brought the Rockets defense to their knees. Winning the game by 2 runs in the last inning and just minutes left to play. Sunday the Rockets were determined to make it to the finals once again. Defeating the Olathe Outlaws 19-0, Topeka Diamond Devils 10-0 and the KC Peditors 6-0 during of which some awesome plays were made such as Laura Vickers 2 grand slams. After all the pool games and elimination brackets the Rockets were to face the Blue Springs Lightning for the final Championship game. As home team the Rockets started with their fastest pitching but the Gold battled and scored 4 runs in the 1st inning. But the Rockets caught them off guard once they took to bat and tied the game back up 4-4. but the Rockets couldn't hold the Gold back in the 3rd and 4th innings and won the Championship game 13 to 5 with a whopping 20 hits. Coaches sit down with the Lady Rockets after the game and to let them know how proud they were for hanging with the the elite Gold team. Rockets have only been together for a few short weeks and have a 20 and 7 win record. The team average is running around 335 and have scored over 220 runs and only allowed 79. As Coach Patterson explained it is a great start to a wonderful season in 2005. That's Rocket Ball!
