Katy JVA starts off District play with strong win over Strake Jesuit Katy's JVA team struck for 11 runs on 10 hits as they started off District play with a convincing 11-1 win over Strake Jesuit on Monday night. Andy Dalton scattered 4 hits and struck out 5 over 4 innings of work to get the win, while Will Weidig worked the final two innings, striking out one and allowing one hit. Nick Barrios led the offense with a double, two singles, three RBI's, and scored twice. Carter Jurica and Dalton each had two hits and scored twice, while Brian Ferris had one hit and three RBI's for Katy. Coach Todd Moebes' undefeated squad will be playing in the Fort Bend ISD tournament this weekend.

Katy Shuts out New Caney, 5-0

Katy moves to 4-0 with victory over New Caney. The Tigers used four pitchers to hold New Caney to only one hit as his Katy JVA team moved to 4-0 for the season with a convincing 5-0 victory. Led by starting pitcher Scott Williams' three inning, five strikeout performance, and finishing with two innings by Andy Dalton and one apiece by Will Weidig and Carter Jurica, the pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts and only three walks in the shutout. On offense, Adam Heiman tripled, Dalton also doubled and scored a run, and Matt Glover added a two run single for Katy. NHS 000 000 0 0 KHS 101 003 5

Tigers Go 3-0 to WIN Alvin JV Tourney

Coach Todd Moebes' Katy JVA team won the Alvin JV tournament by going 3-0: Defeated Brazoswood 5-1, Lamar Consolidated 11-2 and finally Kempner in the Championship game on Saturday evening 7-2. February 26, 2004 Katy defeated Brazoswood 5-1 behind the three hit, complete game pitching of Andy Dalton. February 27, 2004 Katy defeated Lamar Consolidated 7-2 on Friday afternoon. Will Weidig and Brian Ferris combined for the pitching victory, each going three innnings, giving up only 4 hits and striking out 9 over 6 innings. Nick Viscardi, Carter Jurica, Adam Heiman, and Bobby Bowman all had hits in a big 5 run first inning, with Andy Dalton adding a 2 run triple in the fifth for insurance. LHS 011 000 2 KHS 510 14 11 February 28, 2004 In the championship game of the Alvin JV Tournament on Saturday evening, Coach Todd Moebes' JVA team backed up the solid pitching of Nick Viscardi by scoring 4 insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Kempner 7-2. Viscardi needed only 85 pitches in his 7 inning complete game, giving up three hits, and striking out 7 to gain the win. Justin Mohammed had three hits and scored twice, while Mike Thaler had a double and single with three RBI's, and Carter Jurica added two hits and scored three times in the victory.
