JVA Rallies Past Cinco Ranch, 12-9

The JVA team rallied to score 6 runs in the seventh inning (their second 6 run inning of the game) and defeat host Cinco Ranch 12-9 on Friday night. The win keeps the Tigers undefeated both in District (4-0) and on the season (12-0). Andy Dalton struck out 7, and gave up only three hits, in 4 2/3 innings of relief work to get the win, while starter Scott Williams struck out 5, walked 4, and gave up 4 hits in 2 1/3 innings.

The decisive seventh inning started with Steven Boudreaux hitting a sharp liner to right, which the right-fielder misplayed, with Boudreaux ending up on third base. After a walk to Dalton, Adam Heiman singled Boudreaux home to start the scoring. The Tigers sandwiched two more walks and one Cinco error around base hits by Matt Glover and Carter Jurica to score 4 more runs, and ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly by Boudreaux in his second at-bat of the inning to score Chase Atwood from third.

The Tigers also trailed 3-0 before scoring 6 runs in the third inning. The big hit was a two-run homer by Jurica (his second of the year), and also included a double by Heiman, a two-run single by Williams to help his own cause, and a single by Dalton.

Coach Todd Moebes' JVA team tallied 18 hits, including 7 for extra bases, in four innings, and three pitchers combined to no hit Alief Taylor on Monday night as the Tigers won 14-0 to run their District record to 3-0. Andy Dalton and Carter Jurica each had a home-run and single, while Ryan Harper added a triple, double, and single, Adam Heiman a triple and single, and Will Weidig a double and single. Chase Atwood and Brian Williams added two hits apiece and Matt Glover tripled for the Tigers. Dalton (2 IP, 4K's), Brian Ferris (2 IP, 3K's), and Weidig (1 IP, 3K's) only allowed one runner to reach base over the five innings. JVA Tigers Improves District Record to 2-0

The Tigers exploded for 5 straight hits in the fifth inning to break open a tight game and rode the 10 strikeout performance of Scott Williams to their second District win as they defeated Mayde Creek 13-3 on Friday night. Williams gave up five hits and only walked two in getting the win. The Tigers offense tallied 13 hits on the night, including three each by Andy Dalton, Brian Ferris, and Carter Jurica, while Justin Mohammed added two singles. Katy Sweeps Through Lamar Consolidated Tourney

After winning two games on Thursday, the Tigers swept through two more wins on Friday and Saturday to remain undefeated on the season.
Katy - 7, Terry - 4
When Katy's scheduled opponent did not show, a game Terry JV team took the field only to be beaten for the second day in a row by the Katy squad.   The Tigers were led by two hits each by Carter Jurica, Bobby Bowman, and Brian Ferris, while Nick Barrios also doubled and scored two runs.   Will Weidig went four innings to pick up the win, while Aaron Daab worked a 1-2-3 fifth to pick up the save.

The Tigers exploded for 6 runs in the fifth inning to pull away and defeat Lamar Consolidated 11-3 on Saturday evening.   Steven Boudreaux pitched 5 innings, giving up only two hits and striking out four, while Brian Ferris pitched a scoreless sixth, striking out two to close it out for the Tigers.   Andy Dalton and Boudreaux each had two hits on offense, while Ferris and Chase Atwood each contributed two-run singles to lead an 11 hit Tiger attack.

Tigers Win (2) at Lamar Consolidated JV Tourney

Katy JVA wins two to start out Lamar Consolidated Tourney: Katy JVA took advantage of two complete game pitching performances to start out the Lamar Consolidated Tourney with wins over Kempner and Terry High Schools. Katy defeated Kempner 1-0 in the opener, and followed up with a 6-0 shutout over Terry in the second game. Katy - 1 Kempner - 0 Scott Williams only faced two more than the minimum in shutting down Kempner. Williams kept the Kempner hitters off-balance all night, giving up only three hits (one baserunner erased on a double play), striking out four, and not walking anyone in going the distance. The lone run of the game came with two outs in the Katy half of the sixth inning. With two outs, Mike Thaler singled to left, followed by Brian Ferris being hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, and then Nick Barrios singled sharply up the middle to score Thaler with the game winning run. Michael Sauceda (07) hit a two-run home-run and Adam Heiman added three RBI's to back up the complete game pitching of Robby Bishop (07) as Katy defeated Terry 6-0 in the second game of the day for Coach Moebes' JVA team. Bishop scattered five hits, struck out eight, and only walked one in going the distance.
