JVA Rallies Past Cinco Ranch, 12-9
The JVA team rallied to score 6 runs in the seventh inning (their second 6 run inning of the game) and defeat host Cinco Ranch 12-9 on Friday night. The win keeps the Tigers undefeated both in District (4-0) and on the season (12-0). Andy Dalton struck out 7, and gave up only three hits, in 4 2/3 innings of relief work to get the win, while starter Scott Williams struck out 5, walked 4, and gave up 4 hits in 2 1/3 innings.
The decisive seventh inning started with Steven Boudreaux hitting a sharp liner to right, which the right-fielder misplayed, with Boudreaux ending up on third base. After a walk to Dalton, Adam Heiman singled Boudreaux home to start the scoring. The Tigers sandwiched two more walks and one Cinco error around base hits by Matt Glover and Carter Jurica to score 4 more runs, and ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly by Boudreaux in his second at-bat of the inning to score Chase Atwood from third.
The Tigers also trailed 3-0 before scoring 6 runs in the third inning. The big hit was a two-run homer by Jurica (his second of the year), and also included a double by Heiman, a two-run single by Williams to help his own cause, and a single by Dalton.
