A league developed to give the "B" level player a better understanding and learning of the game of Basketball and to be competitive against equal opponents and to provide fair play, teamwork & good sportsmanship
Below are just a few imoportant rules changes adapted to our Leagues Play, A FULL copy of rules will be displayed when completed..
INTERPARISH RULES
Governed by the current High School Federation rules for basketball and the Girls/Boys NCAA with the exceptions listed below:
Two halves will be played instead of 4 quarters
7 - 8 & 5 – 6 Grade 16 Minute Halves
3 - 4 Grade 14 Minute Halves
Grade 3 – 5, every 3 ½ minutes, & Grades 5 –6, 7 – 8 every 4 minutes, the Referee will stop the game for substitutions.
Each player must play a minimum of two full quarters per game (or equivalent time of two full quarters) when there are between six and ten players on the team
Each player must sit out at least one full quarter per game (or equivalent time of one full quarter) when there are between six and ten players on the team
Press – Full Court -
10 point pressing rule. The team in the lead cannot press if they are ahead by 10 or more points.
Permitted only the last two minutes of the game.
5- 6 Grade - Teams must allow the opposing team to get the ball past ½ court.
3 – 4 Grade - Permitted only the last two minutes of the game. Teams must allow the opposing team to get the ball past top of the “3 point” line - straight across the court.
Time outs - Three Full time outs (60 seconds each) and two twenty (20) second timeouts per game.
Fouls
5 fouls put a player out of the game
7 team fouls put the opposing team in a One & One situation.
10 team fouls will award the opposing team two free throws.
Foul Line – 3 –5 Grade will be the bottom line of the circle surrounding the foul line. (Important to maintain correct shooting form at this level of play.)
Rosters must be in by October 29, 2003.
