PANTHERS ON THE GRIDIRON 2016
12 SCP players competed on the high school varsity gridiron this season. The SCP players accounted for over 2000 yards rushing; caught over 100 passes for an additional 1900 yards and completed 100 passes for over 1300 yards. Defensively Panthers recorded over 240 tackles while intercepting 18 passes. Panthers scored over 55 touchdowns and 15 extra points and 7 of their 8 teams made the play offs.
JEREMIAH BOYD - 2018 Hickory Ridge. Jeremiah helped lead Hickory Ridge to a conference championship and the fourth round of the NC State play offs. Jeremiah rushed for 1263 yards and had 3 receptions for 74 yards from his running back position. He scored 15 touchdowns for the season.
CONNER VANCLEAVE - 2017 Holcomb was voted All Conference in 3 positions (TE; DE; P). Conner finished his senior season with 35 receptions for 570 yards and 7 touchdowns; recorded 68 tackles with 6 sacks and punted for a 39 yard average.
JT KILLEN - 2019 Charlotte Christian. The Knights finished the season NC State AAAA Runner Ups. JT finished his sophomore season with 72 tackles; 4 tackles for loss; 1 sack; 2 caused fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.
CARSON LOWDER - 2019 North Stanly played both ways and ended his sophomore season with 202 rushing yards; was 14 for 53 passing and scored 2 touchdowns. Carson made 24 tackles and picked off 3 passes.
HITE MERRIFIELD - 2019 Davie HS played safety for the state ranked War Eagles and led the team with 6 interceptions while recording 49 tackles.
OWEN WHITE - 2018 Carson played QB; WR and Safety for the Cougars. Owen recorded 212 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns was 29 for 65 passing for 344 yards and 2 touchdowns and made 3 catches for 76 yards.
The Panthers had 3 players competing for Southeast Guilford. Senior JUSTIN GUY played WR and Kick Returner for the Falcons. Justin had 195 yards rushing; 18 receptions for 237 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Justin also returned a kickoff for a touchdown and not to be outdown his brother junior JAYLEN GUY had a kick off return for touchdown in the same game. Jaylen played safety and intercepted 8 passes for the season and had 1 fumble recovery. Jaylen was voted to the NC Preps 4A All State Team as well as to the All Conference team.
RYAN DOUGLAS - 2019 quarterbacked the Falcons. Ryan rushed for 68 yards scoring 2 touchdowns and completed 57 passes for 779 yards and 2 touchdowns.
MICHAEL LEWIS - 2019 Cox Mill - was voted to the South Piedmont Conference All Conference team with 48 receptions for 555 yards and 5 touchdowns.
CORDARIUS BUTLER - 2018 AL Brown was injured in the Wonders first game of the season and looks to fully recover before the baseball season this spring.
CLAYTON GILMORE - 2018 Carson was a late addition to the Cougars team afer transfering in. Clayton caught 7 passes for 116 yards for the season.
