New Rule Changes Announced

Posted by Erica Chao on Mar 04 2011 at 04:00PM PST

Minors

Mi1. No new inning will start after one hour and thirty minutes (1:30). If you are the first game at a particular field and there is a game scheduled immediately after yours, the time limit begins at your scheduled start time, even if you actually start later than that. The start time of a game may be delayed up to 15 minutes in the event neither umpire is in attendance.

Majors

Ma6. No new inning will start after one hour and forty-five minutes (1:45). If you are the first game at a particular field and there is a game scheduled immediately after yours, the time limit begins at your scheduled start time, even if you actually start later than that. The start time of a game may be delayed up to 15 minutes in the event neither umpire is in attendance. This rule shall not apply in the playoffs.

Minors Junior

MJ16. All players must be allowed to play all positions. No manager should always, or even often, play his “best” players at “key” positions. Specifically, any player who plays infield one inning MUST play outfield the following inning, except as further described below. This requirement carries over from game to game. Any violation of this rule should be immediately brought to the attention of the player agent. If there are less than 12 players, the manager may play a player in the infield for consecutive innings subject to the following conditions: (i) any infielder who plays infield in consecutive innings must play different positions, (ii) no player can play infield for more than two consecutive innings, and (iii) no player who has played infield in consecutive innings one time can play infield in consecutive innings a second time until all of such team’s players have played consecutive innings in that game.
