2. The 2004 Games of Texas was a record year for the Year Jack Rabbits. Just a mere week prior to heading to De Moines, Iowa for the AAU Junior Olympics, the Jack Rabbits were busy competing in the Games of Texas. We had twenty-two (22) athletes challenging the best of Texas youth by venturing to Grapevine, Texas to compete in the "Games of Texas". This is our third year participating in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation track circuit:

3. Immediately following the 2003 AAU Junior Olympics in Detroit, Robert L. Griffin III didn't returned to Texas like his fellow Olympic teammates. He had a engagement with Chris Berman of ESPN fame and the State Games of America held in Hartford, Connecticut sponsored by the United States of America's Congress. The competition was eager to bring back hardware (medals) to their states for congressional bragging rights. We qualified five athletes for the Games of America in 2002. Two of the athletes signed up, but only one was able to make the trip to Hartford.

4. In 2003 while our Olympians were in Detroit on the national stage heavy engaged in fierce competition. We had six (6) athletes challenging the best of Texas youth by venturing to Grapevine, Texas to compete in the "Games of Texas". Our athletes were inspired by our second year of participating in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation track circuit:

* Gold Medal in the 100m Hurdles - Valerie Hancock (New State Record)

* Silver Medal in the 800m Run - Derwin Graham

* Bronze Medal in the High Jump - Natasha Vance

* Bronze Medal in 100m Dash - Jeremy Briscoe

* Bronze Medal in High Jump - Valerie Hancock (4-way tie for 3rd)

* Copper Medal in the 200m Dash - Jeremy Briscoe


* 4 Additional Statewide Top Twenty Performances:      

    5th Place in the 400m Dash - Derwin Graham

    5th Place in the 400m Dash - Daniel Ruff

    5th Place in the Discus - Dejon Griffin

    5th Place in the Shot Put - Dejon Griffin

** We had five other athletes who qualified for the "Games of Texas" in Track & Field, but were already traveling to Detroit, Michigan to engage in the 2003 AAU's National Junior Olympics, while this event was being held. We also had one athlete unable to participate in the "Games of Texas" due to parent illness.

5. During our 2002 summer track campaign, sixteen (16) of athletes found time to challenge themselves by competing in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation highly competitive track circuit. This was our first year participating in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). During the "Games of Texas" hosted by the perennial Baylor "Track" University in Waco. Our athletes were inspired and performed admirably on a celebrated Hart-Patterson Field:

* Gold Medal in the 80m Hurdles - Robert Griffin

* Gold Medal in the 100m Hurdles - Valerie Hancock

* Gold Medal in the 110m Hurdles (New State Record) - Donald Buckram
