DID YOU KNOW?

The ancient Olympic Games began in the year 776 BC, when Koroibos, a cook from the nearby city of Elis, won the stadium race, a foot race 600 feet long. According to some literary traditions, this was the only athletic event of the games for the first 13 Olympic festivals.

 

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

IT'S ASSESSMENT TIME:  Sunday, March 2, 2014, all athletes will be assessed in their identified event at Hood Stadium. Please bring your spikes!    

PHASE IV IS HERE:  We are transitioning to Phase IV of our athlete’s development. This stage is focused on Pre-competition drills, performance runs and the athlete's secondary sprint  event. 

GIVE YOUR KID AN EDGE:

  1. Team Manger is hosting a supplemental practice every Thursday at Abram's track from 6:00-6:45 to reemphasize advanced sprinting mechanics.
  2. Go to HANDOUTS Tab on website and click on home workouts.

PARENTS:  Its that time to scrutinize the nutritional value of what we feed our athletes in training.  Do not feed them:  Fried Food, Sugar, Soda and Sugary Drinks. Ice Cream.  More information can be found under the website tab “Nutrition”.

 TEAM SHIRTS:  The deadline for ordering shirts is March 4, 2014.  Team Administrator: Shanell Wilson will be available to collect your orders at the last 30 minutes of practice.

 FIRST BAKE SALE: Copperas Cove Wal-Mart

  1. Don’t Forget to bring your delicious baked goods on  Saturday, March 8, 2014.
  2. There are still slots available for volunteers. See Banquet Chair Jackie Johnson to sign up.
  3. Go to FUNDRAISER Tab to access guidelines for bake sale.

LITERACY IS NOT A CLICHÉ:  The Read-A-Thon has been extended to March 10th.  Please contact Banquet Chair Jackie Johnson to update on your readers and their progress.
