The Time Is Now!!!

Posted by Robert Griffin, Jr on May 13 2003 at 05:00PM PDT
Hello Five Hills Track and Field Track Family. It's time to get really focused on the next 6 weeks of your Pre-Competition Phase. June 7, 2003 shall be an event for everyone. Our first track meet of the season. The competition will be engaging, fast and the experience shall give us an indication of where we are,and in many cases where we should be entering our Championship Phase which begins on June 9, 2003. Also beginning on Monday, June 9, 2003 will begin our two-Part Training Phase with our Hurdlers, and Long Distance Runners (1500m/3000m) arriving to practice at 6:30 p.m. Our Mid Distance Runners (400m/800m), Sprinters, Throwers and Jumpers will arrive at 7:30 p.m. This will allow us to better serve our influx of athletes. (The caption above shows Tim Montgomery the new world 100meter record holder with a 9.78 second blast in Paris, September 2002). I truly believe in an informed athlete, parent and coach. I've linked last year's Junior Olympics website to assist the entire Five Hills Track & Field Family. Please take the time and consume the following 1st place and 4th place finishes in the 2002 Junior Olympics Track & Field competition. The 1st & 4th standing is a "Range" in which we must direct our athletes. Everyone wants to know the "Vision or Goal", and hopefully, I've made it plain. In this advance age of information and computer technology, we all should know exactly the times, heights and distance we must esclipse. Enjoy! (*) Denotes new record, ** Denotes Five Hills Athlete). I've developed a techniqued called "Speed Trapping", which greatly increase the Sprinters, Mid & Long Distance Runners concentration, focus and drive. Speed trapping gives the athlete the ability to run a race in practice against the best divisional times, and in reality; shows the athletes where their competition is before even facing them. This is important, and with video feedback. our athletes will go into competition with a focus game plan. Weare in the age of show me, so we shall provide video feedback to stimulate minds.
