Detrimental Conduct Policy 3/2/03

Posted by Kelly Ross on Mar 07 2003 at 04:00PM PST in 2018-19
Cleveland Heights Senior Hockey League was formed in 1989 to provide affordable recreational hockey to adult players. Two recent incidents have potentially jeopardized the League's existence. In one incident, the police were called in to ensure the safety of the referees. More recently, there was a bench-clearing brawl. For the benefit of those players who would like to continue to play recreational hockey, we are serving notice to all players that such incidents will be dealt with severely. From this date forward, the following policy will apply:
  1. As set forth in USA Hockey Rule 625, any player who leaves the bench or penalty box during an altercation is subject to a major penalty plus a game misconduct penalty. We have instructed the referees to apply this rule strictly, and to penalize every player who is on the ice in the area of the altercation, unless the referees are certain the player was already on the ice just prior to the altercation. Note that if a team receives a number of game misconduct penalties, it may not have enough players for the next game and thus may have to forfeit that game.
  2. If, during an altercation, a team has more than one player leave the bench, the team will be subject to immediate expulsion from the League for the rest of the season. The final decision will be made by the Director of Parks and Recreation or his delegate.
