Posted by Joanna Satterlee on Sep 13 2008 at 05:00PM PDT

Varsity Lions win tough road game against Rochester 19–6  On a day more suitable for staying indoors, the Canton Lions braved the elements and stormed into their meeting with Rochester with victory on their minds. The Lions offense relied heavily on a potent ground game led by Malcolm Hollingsworth and Jordan Ciciotti. The passing game was held in check for much of the game, but Jamarl Eiland did deliver on a few clutch throws, including one to Luke Denzer in the end zone. The Lions defense seemed right at home on the rain-drenched field making plays in the backfield all day, and causing Rochester to turn the ball over. Big hits by Nate Emminger, Kyle Durham, and Scott Gring set the tune early for a D that had one goal in mind: a 3-0 record.

Downpour slows Lions JV, Rochester prevails 26 -12  The Canton Lions JV Squad lost a hard fought battle vs. the Rochester Redskins in a torrential downpour (26-12).  Offensively the Lions scored two rushing touchdowns of (2) yards by Kenny Arnold, and (36) yards by Tristan Rainey.  Defensive standouts included Daniel Jippping, James Hall, Evan Thomas (pass interception), Charles Turfe, Nathan Hamel, Tyler Langer, and Forest Hall.

Freshman Lions downed 20-0 at Rochester  A hard-hitting game was played by the Freshman Lions team in a loss by the score of 20-0 to Rochester.  The defense received strong play from Kyrece Smith, Spence Vantiem, Evan Voyles and William Bode.  The offense turned in a solid performance led by the blocking of Ethan Balogh, Colton Weloch, Eric Daniels, Joseph Glunt, and the tough running of Jacob Miller, Victor Abraham, and Jason Arnold.
