Lions Reclaim Black & Blue Trophy!

Posted by Roger Peterson on Oct 29 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
The Canton Lions captured the Black and Blue trophy as the winner of two of three games versus the Plymouth-Canton Steelers.  The Lions assured themselves the trophy after the first two games ended in Lion victories.
The Lions freshmen won the Division championship with a 14-0 shutout of the Steelers.  The stellar Lion defense recorded their fourth shutout of the season.  The Freshmen were bolstered by outstanding defensive play from Brandon Congdon, Josh Nolen, Jordan Smith, William Askew, Bobby Riche and Corey Watkins.  The two Lion touchdowns were scored by Josh Peterson and Braden Price.
The Lions JV then followed it up with a convincing 31-15 drubbing of the Steelers.  The JV was led by Caleb Rankins with four touchdowns and Miles Clifton with one. Quarterback Andrew Tidwell threw the ball well, including a big completion to Jake Peterson.  Brandon Ciciotti, Matt Christo, Drew Daubenmeyer, Jimmy Keena, Adam Payne and Cody Blakita also played well for the winners.
The Lions Varsity came close to making it a Lions sweep, but fell to the Steelers on a last minute touchdown 12-6.
