Season End with Loss to Spring Valley

Posted by Edward Overstreet at Feb 22, 2016 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Lady Cavaliers suffered a season ended playoff loss to visiting Spring Valley tonight (last years' state champions and likely to repeat again this year), 95-46.

It was another great year for Coach V's lady Cavaliers - Region Champs - 19-6 over all record is awesome!

I will be uploading pictures of the game on "Cavalier Galleries" in the "Basketball" section.

Broadcast Info - Playoff Basketball

Posted by Edward Overstreet at Feb 16, 2016 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
All Dorman boys and girls play-off basketball games can be heard on the radio this year on 95.9 FM WQUL.  You can also listen on TuneIn radio at “WQUL” and online at  http://www.coolq959.com www.coolq959.com

The Cavaliers hit the road for State playoff round one and faced the Blythwood Bengals, the number one seed.  The Cavaliers jumped out to a 15-9 lead and led by one at the half....... but the Bengals turned it up in the 4th quarter to outscore the Cavaliers 15-2 to win 42-33.

The Cavaliers season closes with a 11-12 record.

Dorman was hit very hard with graduation last year......added to those loses, outstanding guard/forward Colin Hill left early to attend Stanford.   Many times throughout the season, Dorman played an 8th, 9th, 10th, and two 11th graders either starting or getting the majority of minutes which translates to - wait until next year BIGTIME!     Not making any excuses "just saying."

Coach Ryan and staff - great job!

Woodmont came to Dorman with hopes to advance in the playoffs but the Cavaliers jumped out to a 16-2 lead midway in the first quarter - slacked off a bit during the second period and returned the second half with the offense running on all cylinders.  The defense played "lights out" forcing turnovers resulting in easy buckets thoughtout the game!  Dorman was led by Brittany Mack and Samantha Penson (15 points) while Maya Rogers put up 13.

Final Score 79-35

The Cavaliers will return to play TL Hanna on Friday at home!  Gametime 7:00 pm.

Pictures from tonight can be viewed on "Cavalier Galleries" in the "Basketball" section.
