Pennsbury's Kiefer wins award for the sixth time By TOM WARING Courier Times FAIRLESS HILLS - Joe Kiefer built a pretty good dual meet team this season. Kiefer coaches wrestling at Pennsbury High School, which battered six teams to win the KSA Tournament in Orlando in December. January was equally kind to the Falcons, who beat North Penn and Neshaminy en route to the Suburban One League Patriot Division title. In February, the good times continued to roll as Pennsbury captured the District One Class AAA Dual Meet title and advanced to the PIAA semifinals, losing to national power Easton. The team finished with a sparkling 22-1 record. The Falcons, with just one senior in the lineup, faltered a bit in the individual postseason tournaments, but enjoyed a happy ending when Brian Sellers and Joe Bowman won medals at the state tournament. For leading Pennsbury to league and district titles and guiding two wrestlers to top-eight finishes at states, Kiefer is the Courier Times Wrestling Coach of the Year. Kiefer edged Archbishop Wood's Todd Mullin, who led the Vikings to an upset of La Salle in the Philadelphia Catholic League championship match. It's the sixth time Kiefer has won the award. He's won three outright SOL titles and shared four others in 16 years. His career record is 197-68. Jim Parsons, Dick Tosti and Tony Incollingo serve as Kiefer's assistants.
