  • 4. Barrie vs Cambridge - Round Robin: Cambridge Tournament
  • 3. Barrie vs Brampton - Round Robin: Brampton Tournament
  • 2. Barrie vs Oakville - Finals: Brampton Tournament
  • 1. Barrie vs Vaughan - Elimination Game: OBA Provincial Finals 2003 OBA's - The season comes to a close The Barrie Red Sox congratulate last year's OBA Rookie Ball finalist, the Cambridge Cubs, who this season defeated the Oakville A's in the finals of the Ontario "AAA" championships. In "AA" action the Mississauga North Bengal's came from behind in the bottom of the 7th to defeat the Markham Mariners 8-7 and win the Ontario "AA" championship. Mississauga bounced Barrie earlier in the day in the tournament semifinal 12 -4 bringing the Red Sox 2003 season to a close. The tournament had many memories including the heart thumping 9 inning match with Vaughan. Here's how the four day tournament went: 2003 YSBA Tournament Results - Barrie Sweeps
Barrie Baseball sweeps the York Simcoe Tournament - Triple Championships -
Barrie Minor Baseball Rep teams traveled to Vaughan August 8-10 to compete at the York Simcoe Zone Championships. By the time the final out was made three of Barrie's teams had won championships and they did so by going undefeated. The Restored Sports Major Mosquito team went 5 - 0 winning the finals against Vaughan 16 - 6 and out scoring the opposition by a combined score of 70 - 22 during the tournament. The Minor Mosquito team also went 5 - 0 defeating Aurora "A" in the finals 16 - 5 and out scoring the opposition by a combined 60 - 21. In the closest match of the day, Barrie's Murray Demolition Rookie Ball team defeated Bolton by posting 5 runs in their last at-bat to score the come from behind 10 - 9 victory and complete Barrie's championship sweep. The Rookie ball team went 4 - 0 and out scored the opposition 56 -18 during the tournament. For the 2003 Minor Mosquito team it is back-to-back titles as they repeat as YSBA champs. Here is the team's game-by-game summary: 2003 Brampton Tournament Results The Red Sox put on a spectacular performance this weekend but fell just short in the finals versus the Oakville A's. The Red Sox rolled into the finals of the tournament with 4 straight victories, out scoring the opposition 97 - 12. The most impressive victory was a real "gut check" come from behind victory on Day 1 of the tournament. In their third game of the day, and following a short half-hour break in between games, Barrie went up against a determined Brampton squad who were in a must win situation. In their first at-bats Brampton posted 7 runs and put on an amazing hitting display spraying hits deep into (and well past) the outfield before the boys even got to pick up a bat. The boys picked themselves up and eventually roared back for the victory. In finals the team played in what was by far the best game of the year to watch. Both teams made stunning defensive plays and kept the game close until Oakville managed to put 3 runs across in the 4th inning. In the end, Oakville downed Barrie 5-1 but the boys showed a level of play and execution that bodes well for the future. Once again the boys showed they can play with anyone in the province.
