Racewalking Trio

Racewalking Trio  Eduardo Uria of Palmer Elementary School, Jonathon Aguilar of Edinburg and Jorge Contreras of Doedyns Elementary School will all be vying for three spots in the ten year old and under Junior Olympic Regional USA Track & Field Racewalk Competition. It appears that Regional 1st and 2nd place favorites Eduardo and Jonathon, ten and nine year olds respectively, have a very good chance of making the National USATF team that will be heading to North Carolina.  Ten year old Jorge on the other hand, has an uphill battle trying to win the remaining spot from a tough Houston and Dallas group of boys expected at the meet in Houston on July 11th.  Eduardo, the fastest elementary school boy in the South Texas Walking Club, would have won 1st place at last years national event in Omaha had he attended.  Jonathon would have easily won third place if he too had attended, but would have and will are two different things, the question is, can they?  To make sure they will, they practice daily and walk with the top senior kids in the club hoping to better themselves.   The three boys expect an easier task at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Regional meet in Round Rock on July 15th where they are ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.  They are looking forward to that National AAU Championship in Des Moines, Iowa on August 1st where they expect to do well.
