Nats Climb Out of 5-1 Hole to Beat Tigers, Senior, 8-6

Posted by N Frese on Jun 15 2008 at 05:00PM PDT

The Washington Township Senators built themselves quite a mountain, falling behind the Tabernacle Tigers and Shawn Senior by a 5-1 score. But the vaunted offense finally woke up, as the Nats stormed back to beat the Tigers 8-6 for a very happy Father's Day.

Joe Collins led the offense with three hits, while Miles Reader, Mark Alessandrini, Ken Bevenour, Dave Koerner and Miles Reader each had a pair. Chris Lawrence picked the win with seven-plus innings of work, and Koerner notched his second save. Big Dan Barbara had three clutch RBIs to spark the offense.

Dan Laudisio tossed out two Tigers attempting to steal, and also set up a road block at the plate in the first to retire Steve Alemi on a great relay from Reader and Frank Izzi.

The Senators also turned two more doubleplays, bringing their season total to an amazing 11 already. No one can recall a season where the club turned more than five or six. Go figga.

Next week the Senators return home to face the Rancocas Valley Pilots.
