Marlins Send Senators Home to Mother With 8-2 Defeat

Posted by N Frese on May 11 2008 at 05:00PM PDT

The short-handed Senators didn't make their moms proud on Mother's Day, as the Nats made seven errors and got only six hits in dropping an 8-2 decision to the Moorestown Marlins.

Joe Collins had the only Senator RBI, and Alan McNulty was handed his first defeat as a Senator. McNulty could go only two innings, as the gimpy hamstring keep him out of the lineup and limited him to only two innings on the hill.

But despite the injury woes and shaky defense, it was a lack of offense that decided this one. The Senators managed just six singles, and had only ONE runner reach secondbase after the first inning.

Not a pretty way to honor the wives and moms!

The Nats head to Delaware County next weekend for a match with their old friends the Delco Astros.
