Saturday 10th March 2007 18th N’Abbey OB 4 v 1 Kilroot Rec @ Cloyne crescent Kilroot scorer Nicky Sharples (p) Kilroot travelled to Monkstown today to play fellow promotion hopefuls 18th and it must be said finished a very poor second in a two horse race a match that Kilroot never got out of the stalls or were allowed to a match that all the so called big names were conspicuous by their absence a performance that didn’t merit being called a performance it was so off key, a total surrender. The strange thing about the game was it took 18th 35 minutes to score after hitting the post and had other chances wasted in front of goals. 18th scored on 35 minutes all stated by a throw in finishing in the Kilroot goals. 5 minutes into the second period 18th added a second goal followed by another on 55 minutes to go into a three goal lead. Kilroot had a few chances namely a Nicky Sharples one on one with keeper and Mark Latimer blasted wide from a good position. 70 minutes Kilroot got the opportunity to open their account from the spot after a deliberate hand ball; after some searching they found Nicky Sharples who duly converted. 3-1 This goal was the signal for the Kilroot management to change the personal on the field Phillip Glover replaced Mark Latimer. 75 minutes 18th completed the route with the fourth goal. 4-1 80 minutes and a little late Kilroot made a double substitution with Gary Mulholland and Paul Mawhinney replacing the injured (pride) Paul Mathers and Darren McKinty. Not a good day at the office. Kilroot team, Gary McClune, Stuart Hamilton, Phillip Burnside, Paul Mathers (Gary Mulholland 80) Darren McKinty (Paul Mawhinney 80) David Kidd, Simon Hamilton, David Armstrong, Mark Latimer (Phillip Glover 70) John Mathers and Nicky Sharples.
