Summer Camp A Success!
The boys and girls cross country teams spent six nights and seven days training in the mountains around Lake Gregory in Crestline. Congratulations to all the first year runners who survived the intense workouts.

Searching for scenic trails and running the 2.7 mile loop around the lake turned out to be the core of the training for the week. The most difficult trail run was a 4-mile extreme mountain run that Dag finished in 54 minutes! The rest of the boy's team and Audrey & Cassandra completed the grueling trail in 59 minutes.

Over the course of the week the varsity girls ran an average of 50+ miles while the boys ran 65+ miles. Leading the way for the girls were Jackie Martinez and Audrey Serrata with 65 and 63 miles respectively. Another fall by Amber, this one near the water slide, prevented her from accumulating more miles. On the boy's team, Jason Cabalitan, Nathaniel Moore and Jared Bird compiled 67 miles each. Freddy, Calvin, and Mario paced the Boy's J.V. team.

The highlight of training was running the "5K/10K Race Around Lake Gregory" on Saturday. Despite an early week injury, Amber Morrison recovered just enough to finish 1st in the women's 10K race while Audrey Serrata completed the 6.2 mile course right behind her in 2nd place. Jackie Martinez finished 1st in the 12-14 year old division. In the men's 10K race Nathaniel Moore received a medal for 4th place. Check out the results for the entire team under race results.

Following a day of soccer, basketball and rest, the entire team spent Saturday evening "Glow Bowling" at Rim Lanes. Nathaniel bested all athletes with a 172 score!

Thanks to Andy, Laura and Norberta for taking care of and feeding 35 hungry athletes and to all the parents who helped transport the team.
