2001 Jets Coaches

Posted by Dave Rea on Jul 24 2001 at 05:00PM PDT
We are pleased to announce that Coach Cleatus Varney is now the Head Coach of the Jets for the 2001 Season. His ability to communicate and teach his players, coupled with his enthuisiasm for our Youth Football program makes him a great choice for Head Coach.

We would like to welcome Sandy Sturgill, as she has agreed to help Cheryl Varney with the Team Mom duties for the Jets. Her daughter Cady cheered with the Jets JV last year and her son Craig will be in his 1st Varsity season with the Jets this year. Welcome Sandy! Mike Arena, Sr. will also be back to help Cleatus' when he can this season, and Jets JV Head Coach Steve Watkins moves up to the Varsity level for 2001.

We will say goodbye to Rock Supan this season as he has accepted a job coaching with Phil Gregor at the 8th grade level in the Junior High. Thanks for all you have done for us the past couple seasons Rock and good luck this coming season. There will be no shortage of familiar faces for Rock on that team, as there are plenty of Jags and Jets in 8th grade to make him feel at home.

The coaching staff of the Jets is committed to providing a quality program for the children in the Buckeye School District to learn the fundamentals of football, along with good sportsmanship and having fun, in order to further the advancement of the overall Buckeye Football program. We take great pride in being the youngest members of the Buckeye Football Family, and hope that these young players continue to participate and proudly represent Buckeye as they move into Junior High and High School.
