October 31st

Posted by MMBL at Oct 23, 2018 7:40PM PDT

After consulting with the conveners of Elite and Champions, I’ve decided that the best course to take on October 31st is to cancel the games for both Elite and Champions. This is due to the number of players that will be absent due to Halloween. Crothers will be open for pick up ball with Elite in the upper gym and Champions in the lower gym.

Masters will go on as scheduled except that they will play at MDHS as opposed to the original schedule which had them in the lower gym at Crothers.

Fred will post the announcement, including the pick up ball option, on the website and change the schedule on the website as well. Unfortunately, we still don’t have the ability to do an email blast to all members so please inform your captains and have them spread the word. There is no room to make up these games so we will end up with an unbalanced schedule

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Switch to new MMBL mobile website

Posted by fred illies at Oct 1, 2018 6:36AM PDT ( 1 Comment )

We’ve launched a new web experience for the MMBL that will replacing the Team Pages site. It’s live now and has all of the team rosters for the 2018/19 season, and the full schedule for the year. Just type:

mmbl.run

into your browser on your phone. The site was designed to feel more like an app, with super-easy access to all the info you really need – on the go, from your phone. The new site can still be accessed from any web browser on any size device (desktop, iPad etc) but it’s optimized for a narrow screen.

We’re also launching a new app that the scorekeepers will use to record the games, which will automatically upload the results to the new site. So this year, you can expect to see the results from your games on the site that night.

We still have a few bugs to work out, so if you’re having trouble or get an error message, try to reload the page or restart your browser. Information about the 2018/19 season will not posted to Team Pages.

PLAYERS 48 AND OLDER

Posted by Champions Division at Sep 14, 2018 9:45AM PDT

As all returning players should be aware, we are planning some changes this coming season to bolster the Masters Division and to create more competitive younger divisions within our league. For further explanation of these changes, please refer to notice posted on the Markham Men’s Basketball League website.
These upcoming changes may affect some returning players in the Elite and Champions Divisions, specifically those who are 48 years of age and older. The MMBL Executive has given this matter serious and significant consideration and have unanimously agreed that these changes are essential for the long-term health, and sustainability of our league.
We want to reassure all returning players that there will be a guaranteed spot for each of them in the Markham Men’s Basketball League, as has always been our tradition. However, we cannot guarantee in which division you will be playing until after the draft has been concluded. If you are placed in the Masters Division during the draft proceedings, that will be the spot that is offered to you for the 2018/2019 season. It will be your choice to accept that spot or not but, should you decide to refuse the spot, there will be no other opening available to you. It is our expectation that the majority of the players who are 48 years of age and older will remain in the divisions of their choice.
It is our sincere hope that the affected players will choose to stay with us in the MMBL and continue to enjoy playing basketball.
Thank you for your continued support of the Markham Men’s Basketball League.
