Coach Jason mentioned at the beginning of the year not to take any stock in the stats that appear on the league’s Pointsteak site as the numbers were not accurate. After the last game when I noticed several obvious errors I decided to record the proper stats using the game video and compare them to the stats on Pointstreak. The results may surprise you:

There were 10 goals.

• 8 goal scorers were identified correctly with 2 errors.

• There should have been 16 assists. Only 10 were awarded.

• Of the 10 awarded assists, only 4 were correct. (In other words, only 4 out of 16 assists were correct!)

• Of the 10 goals, only 1 was completely correct. (For emphasis: 1/10 was correct!)

In summary there was a 25% accuracy for assists and while goals were at 80%, the overall accuracy was 10%.

As our Coach said, no one should take these stats too seriously!

(By the way, this is not a knock on the refs. As a ref myself I know it’s virtually impossible to get the scoring correct without the use of replay.)
