The hot midday sun couldn’t slow down the JFK Islanders cross-country team Thursday afternoon with the top seven spots secured by the Islander runners in their win over the combined FD Friars/Academy Cougars squad, the ‘Frougars’. " Felt great to finish first but difficult during the course " said Elijah Reyes of the JFK cross country team. Running ain’t life for this young buck but as he progresses during the season he may become the top runner island wide. Islander junior Elijah Reyes topped all runners after completing the course around the JFK track with a time of 18:59, which is a new personal best for Reyes this season after running a 19:29 in the season opener against the Sanchez Sharks.
JFK won the meet for the boys and girls both in dominating fashion by a score of 15-50 for both divisions.

JFK Islanders started 1st quarter sports over the weekend.

On the Saturday, the Islanders Football team took on the FD Friars and fought a tough battle. At the end, JFK lost 14-6. JFK’s lone score came on the final play of the first half when junior Marcus Manglona broke through the line for a 1-yard score (PDN).

On Monday, the boys and girls cross-country took on the Southern Dolphins at home. The defending champions were able to win both meets. The boys team beat the dolphins with a perfect score of 15-45 . Junior Elijah Reyes took first followed by 6 of his teammates before the first Southern High runner finished. In the girls division, senior Genina Piolo-Criss led the islanders.

On Tuesday, the girls volleyball took on the Guam High Pathers and won in three sets.

REMINDERS ALL ATHLETES:
1. I will be getting the tags ready base on who registers online.
2. If you don’t sign up online- YOU CANNOT bring duffle bag tomorrow.
3. You will need to wait till we process those that signed up online.
4. BAG TAG- Does not allow you to walk around the school with your bag! You need to go straight to C102 to store your bag everyday.
5. Non clear duffle bag is OKAY.

All athletes can bring their duffle back but must store them in their ASSIGNED locker in room C102. There are 60 lockers available and I will assign them according to who signs up first and get their athlete ID/Bag Tag.

Instruction-
1. Sign your name and sport
2. Come into the AD office between 6:00am-6;30am to get your tag/id
3. Bring your lock.
– If it’s a combination, you will need to provide the number
– If it’s with a key, please provide the spare key.
4. Athletes who are sharing lockers MUST have their individual ID/Bag Tag
5. ID/Bag Tag is $3.00
