Client Services Supervisor Criminal Records Review Program

Hello Families of Bantam 15U Ladner Minor Baseball,

Welcome to the 2017 season! We wanted to provide you with some information about the Bantam AA try outs and an overview of what you can expect from, what should be, a very exciting 2017 Bantam AA baseball season.
Important: Before we get into the details below, once you have read them and decide your child is interested in trying out for our Ladner Bantam AA team, please email me (michelle@deskside911.com) by Feb 23rd with your confirmation.
Head Coach & Development Instructor

First and foremost is to let you all know that we have a firm commitment from a head coach to take on our Bantam AA group. Their name will be posted on the LMBA web site by next weekend once all the LMBA processes have been completed and confirmed.
I would also like to take this time to introduce and welcome Mike Hughes as our new coaching and development instructor who comes to us with a wealth of experience, talent, knowledge and passion for the game.
Tryouts

Feb 25th & 26th 1pm – 3pm @ Cromie Field: Mike will be running the AA tryouts with a team of his baseball peers. If conditions are not baseball practicable an email will be sent out on the morning of February 25th by 9 am informing you of the move to Delta Senior Secondary School.

The 2017 Season

So that you are prepared and aware of the commitment that is required for the Bantam AA team, should your child be selected, here is how the season is shaping up:

· Bantam AA is a single season. This means that it runs from April to August, including playoffs, provincials and is somewhat dependent on how far the team advances (See tournament/event dates below).
o The “Fair play rule”(23.03), where all players bat, is in effect until May 31st
o After May 31st, “9 man ball” rules begin where there are 9 batters + an optional Extra Hitter.
· Travel is mandatory. Players and their families must commit to the required travel for both regular season games as well as tournaments, provincials, etc…
o 5 of the 21 teams in our league are from the Okanagan, which means that as part of the league play the team will very likely have to travel to the Okanagan for games.
· Schedule
o Expect 36-38 games, plus tournaments and playoffs listed below, and at least 2 practices per week.
o The league anticipates one weeknight game per week on either a Tuesday or Thursday and possibly 3 or 4 games on a weekend as a double headers and/or single games
· Important Tournament Dates, Provincials & Beyond
o May 18th – 22nd: Tsawwassen; This is the May long weekend
o July 14th – 16th: Kelowna; Valley of Champions
o July 21st – 24th: Fraser Valley (TBD); 10 team wild card tournament
o July 27th – 30th: Victoria; 12 Team BC Minor Provincials
o Aug 4th – 7th: TBD; Baseball BC Provincials
o * Aug 12th – 13th: San Diego; Winner of BC Minor Provincials only
o * Aug 18th – 20th: Kamloops; Winner of Baseball BC Provincials only

On a slightly different note, if your child has any interest in trying out for the BC Selects team (travel team- going to Chicago in June 2017) or simply would like to take advantage of an excellent opportunity to receive some great coaching tips at some of the other clinics taking place at the Baseball convention starting this Friday (Feb 17th) you should visit the official BC Baseball website or use the link below.
