Saturday, October 24, 2015, four teams battled for DIFL division championships. The two games (division 1 and division 2) were hard fought. All players, coaches, parents, and fans in attendance exhibited excellent sportsmanship overall. In the end, the Patriots won the Division 1 championship over the Steelers, 20-6. WD White won the Division 2 championship over the Rams, 19-12. Thank you to the officials and volunteers for helping to produce a memorable night of football. Thank you to the parents and other family members for supporting your players and cheerleaders with all that you do that allows them to participate. And congratulations to all players and coaches, win or lose, for your fine performance.

DIVISION 1: Patriots 20, Steelers 6

DIVISION 2: WD White 19, Rams 12

The DIFL will be hosting a special event to honor selected players’ academic excellence on Monday, November 2, 6:00 pm, at Roosevelt Middle School, 2001 Radford Road, Dubuque. The duration of the event will be approximately 90 minutes. All DIFL players, parents, coaches, and fans, are encouraged to attend this wonderful program.

The players and cheerleaders who will receive special recognition at the event met DIFL criteria during the last grading period of the 2014-2015 school year according to report cards previously submitted, and based on five core areas including reading/language arts, math, social studies, science, and homeroom/citizenship. These recognized students will receive a special invitation letter by regular mail prior to the event. DIFL participants who do not receive an invitation to be recognized are still welcome to attend the event and help celebrate DIFL’s “Team Scholars.”

All attendees are asked to bring one or more canned food items that will be collected as a donation to help feed the hungry for Thanksgiving.

If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact Leslie Kelley at domeramsorg@hotmail.com.

There is still time to register your team for the Dubuque Halloween Parade. This will allow players and coaches to walk as a group in the parade. Teams can carry candy to throw to folks watching the parade, but you must supply your own candy. Each team’s registration fee is $25, but the DIFL will pay your registration fee or reimburse your team.

Be sure to register your team as a “non-profit” ($25) and a “walking group” and make sure your group is included next to the rest of the DIFL teams. Follow the instructions on the form to register.

So far there are four teams registered: Bears, Broncos, Colts and Rams.
