On December 4-5, the Eagles completed the first step in the long journey of the goal to bring a State Championship to Chapin. Of the 14 teams competing, the Eagles finished second behind Hilton Head and 32 points ahead of Summerville. Tournament runner-up honors were earned even though Chapin did not compete in two weight classes. In a great team effort, every wrestler from Chapin recorded at least one victory, for an overall record of 51 wins and 18 defeats. One of the most exciting bouts of the entire tournament featured Sophomore Cole Hodges’ gritty 5 to 3 victory in double overtime.

Individual accomplishments included 4 First Place, 2 Second Place, 1 Third Place, and 2 Fourth Place finishes.

First Place
Dylan Whitcomb: 120 pounds (lbs)
Taylor Cabe: 145 lbs
Cole Haile: 182 lbs
