ASSISTANT HEAD COACH Coach Tichenor Cougar distance coach and head cross country coach Carl Tichenor has been on the Cougar staff since 2000. Coach Tichenor had successful coaching stops in Michigan and New York before his recent stint at PCHS. At Southfield High School in Michigan, a perinnial athletic powerhouse, Coach Tichenor helped establish the cross country program and led the team with an impressive dual meet record (.794 win percentage)and two state championship appearances, a difficult task considering Michigan's qualification standards. He also coached four all-state cross country runners and was runner up for Coach of the year in 1977. He then set up shop for two years at Long Island, New York Lutheran high schoolwhere he was again successful as the cross country coach with a 15-10 record. As a Cougar, he brings with him an impressive record as a successful cross country & long distance coach tutoring two all-region runners and one all-stater. In 2003, he guided the Cougar 4 x 800 relays to region medals (the girls 4x4 won the region championship). His runners also had 6 top 10 finishes including 4 medal winners at 400, 800 and 1600 meters. His personal accomplishments include a Canadian national championship, a masters state championship and four national masters medals at 800 & 1500 meters. He was also a 3-time all conference performer at 800 meters.
