Are falling down and blaming it on you,
If you can keep your cool when other players foul you
But make allowance for their fouling too,
If you can chase and not be tired by chasing,
Or being called offside, don't shout out blame,
If you can score - and not make goals your plan,
If you can pass - and not make praise your aim;
If you can meet with Einstein, Clueless Frank and Stan
And treat those three officials just the same;
If you can fill the Sunday morning
With ninety minutes' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Field and everything that's on it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Gunner, my son!
