Little League Softball Day
University of Washington vs. University of New Mexico
Saturday, March 21 at 12:00 PM
Husky Softball Stadium

On March 21, Little League Baseball and Softball, the University of Washington, and the University of New Mexico would like to invite you and your Little Leaguers to attend the "Little League Softball Day."  The event will be held at the home field of the Huskies of the University of Washington in Seattle, at 12:00 pm, when the Huskies take on the Lobos of the University of New Mexico in a doubleheader.

In order to promote Little League Softball, as well as the college softball experience, Little League Baseball and Softball is creating a "Little League Softball Day" at the collegiate level.  It is on this day that young athletes of all ages will get to experience the game of softball at its finest.  They will have the complete game experience from the warm up to the game-ending play.

A "Little League Softball Day" is designed to promote what participating in Little League Softball can potentially lead to.  It will also provide a generous amount of exposure to the participating colleges and universities.  This event could lead to an on-going relationship between the local collegiate programs and their surrounding Little Leagues.

On Game-day:
  • The Little League players may obtain general admission seating (outfield) for the doubleheader at no charge.  General Admission is based on first come, first served.  Gates open one hour prior to the game start time. Everyone is encouraged to wear their uniform to the game.
  • Reserved Infield seats are available for purchase at GoHuskies.com.
  • Free team posters
  • Free schedule magnets

On behalf of Little League Baseball and Softball, I urge you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.  Please feel free to contact me or Amy with the University of Washington if you have any questions.  We hope to see there!

It’s MI Softball Spring Training Time!

Now that the days are getting longer, our thoughts turn to warmer weather and … Mercer Island Softball.  Registration is now open and teams are being formed.  Early registration ends on February 5, so join this growing program and sign up today.

Major League pitchers and catchers soon report to Spring Training to get ready for the season and so should your softball player.  Indoor softball preseason workouts start this Saturday at the Boys and Girls gym.  These preseason workouts run through February.  All players through Sixth Grade should sign up.  These softball workouts are organized by the Mercer Island High School Varsity Softball coach, Jessica Steinle.  These 90 minute sessions run from 9:30 to 11:00.  For players eight and over who want to play some more, we have reserved the gym until 12:30.  This open gym time is for girls only and allows the players to get in some batting cage time and work on their throwing and fielding.  So break out the glove and warm up your throwing arm.  Let’s go play!
