It is required that all pitchers wear a heart guard while pitching.  This will be check by the umpire.  If the pitcher is not wearing a heart guard they will not be permitted to pitch.  At this time it is not required to wear a heart guard while playing other positions, but is up to the discretion of the player and his/her guardian.
