Posted by JIM MCGEE at Apr 17, 2018 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Note:  A separate email and sign up will be sent out to all Major families for the 2018 Season.

Saturday, April 28th is Opening Day for NELL!!

This day is an extra special time for all our our players, coaches, parents, fans, and volunteers.  It is also one of the busiest days of the season for us in the concession stand.

We could use a few people to step up and help out in concessions, especially during lunch time.

The stand will be open from about 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM.  We have the following volunteer shifts available. Please keep in mind that many hands make light work and your help is GREATLY appreciated.

  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Opening Crew)
  • 10:30 AM -12:30 PM
  • 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
  • 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM (Closing Crew)

SIGN UP HERE

We always need grillers...so dads, don't think the concession stand is only for us moms! We need you too!

We usually have a lot of fun in the stand!!  There are times it's the warmest or coolest place to be.  And...hey, you get free food and a drink out of the deal. Where can you beat that!?

Concession Stand Volunteer Guidelines

  • Mature Teen and up (see definition below)
  • Everyone MUST wear a hat or hair in a ponytail
  • Wear clothes you don’t care if they get dirty or stained
  • NO ONE should work in the stand if they have had a stomach bug within the last 72 hours

Definition of Mature Teen:  12 years old and up. Must be there to WORK...not socializing, playing around, hanging out, eating, etc.  If they are on the young side they may not be allowed to handle money as things can get fast and hectic quick.  We can't have errors being made. The Concession Manager reserves the right to ask any teen not pulling their weight to step out.

2018 Evaluation Schedule

Posted by JIM MCGEE at Feb 25, 2018 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Evaluations for the 2018 season have been scheduled to take place in the Midland High School gymnasium on March 4th and March 11th.

March 4th:
11 & 12 year olds: 12:15–1:45
10 year olds last name A–L: 2:00–2:45
10 year olds last name M–Z: 3:00–3:45

March 11th:
9 year olds: 12:45–1:45
8 year olds: 2:00–3:00
7 year olds: 3:15–4:00

Evaluations are required for all 8–12 year olds and all 7 year olds who are interested in playing in AA Minors. The only exceptions are 11 and 12 year olds returning to Majors. They will remain on the same team as last year.

Evaluations are held in the Midland High School gymnasium. Please enter through the doors near the tennis courts. Arrive approximately 15 minutes early to allow time to check in and and warm up. If unable to attend during the scheduled time, please let us know so alternative arrangements can be made.

Please note that the ages listed for evaluations are "Little League ages," which may not be the actual age of your child on evaluation day. This chart will help to determine your child's age according to Little League.

What to expect: Our evaluations are fairly straight forward. Each player is expected to catch and throw back a few fly balls and grounders, run the length of the gym, and hit a few balls pitched by a coach. Players should dress in athletic apparel and bring a glove. A bat and helmet will be available to use during hitting if needed, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.

2018 Registration Now Open

Posted by JIM MCGEE at Jan 17, 2018 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Registration for the 2018 season is now open. To register, go here or click the “Register Now” link on our front page. Not everyone receives our emails, so please share this news with anyone you know who may be interested in playing baseball for Northeast Little League.

IMPORTANT: The age levels overlap for many playing divisions. If you have multiple options for playing divisions to participate in, please select the highest level for which you would like your child to be considered. This allows coaches to determine the appropriate level based on evaluations, and provides the most flexibility for the league to build fair and competitive teams at each playing level. For example, a 10 year old could have a choice of Majors, AAA, or AA. If you want your child to be considered for Majors, you must select that option. If the coaches determine that your child should be in a lower level, they will place them there through the draft process. If you select AAA for your 10 year old, he or she will not be considered in the Majors draft.

NEW BAT RULES ARE HERE - Please visit our USA Bat page for more information.

As always, we are in need of volunteers for coaching, especially at the Coach Pitch age groups. We will also need additional help with field maintenance this year. If able to help out, please let us know when registering your child.

The player registration fee is $65 with a family maximum of $163. Registration will close on March 1, 2018. Registrations for players in age groups requiring a draft (AA, AAA, and Majors) may be rejected after that date. Registrations for Coach Pitch age groups after March 1 will not allow for special request considerations and may result in rejection if all teams are full.

A few key dates:
  • March 1: Registration Deadline
  • March 4 & 11: Evaluations (more information will be shared as we get closer to that date)
  • March 24: Minors and Majors team placement deadline
  • April 10: Coach Pitch team placement deadline
  • April 28: Opening Day

If you have any questions, please contact email midlandnell@yahoo.com.

Midland Northeast Little League Website Overhaul

Posted by JIM MCGEE at Dec 14, 2017 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Over the next month, you will see several changes occuring on the NELL website. At times, some of those changes may lead to a section of the sight remaining empty or a link breaking. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience as we work to ensure a better experience while here.

Rest assured that we'll have everything up and ready to go before the snow melts and we all start planning for Little League baseball again.

In the meantime, if you happen to be visiting our site this winter with questions about baseball in the spring, the following resources are being provided early to answer any questions that you may have:

We look forward to seeing you all on the ball field again soon!
