2014 ANNUAL LETTER FROM LBA PRESIDENT

Posted by Peter Moore on Jan 27 2014 at 04:00PM PST

Letter dated 10/20/2014.  Dear Parents, registration for the Spring 2014 program is open!   I know it’s hard to think about Spring when the weatherman is reporting on another polar vortex, but the Board of the LBA is hard at work getting ready for another great baseball season.

First, I want to recognize 7 new Board Members that were voted in for the 2014 season.

Paul Feely - Secretary
Jim Silva - Fields & Facilities
John MacDonald - Umpire Coordinator
Steve Perry - Majors Coordinator
Scott Reed - Minors Coordinator
Mark Syphers - Instructional Coordinator
Will Henderson - Training /Coaching Coordinator

I would also like to thank everyone that contributes their time to our organization, especially the present, past and future Board Members & Team Coaches/Managers. We could not run this organization without your commitment.

Each year we endeavor to improve the player experience and this year is no different. We have been working hard in the off season to make 2014 a great year for the LBA and look forward to seeing everyone back on the field.

Some improvements we have in store for 2014:

•    PRE-SEASON INDOOR CLINICS. We plan to host some indoor clinics during the month of March for players in all age groups at a small fee. These clinics will be focused on getting players ready for the season and will be comprised of rotating drills that are meant to reinforce the fundamentals and proper techniques of the game. Look for emails about these clinics in the coming weeks.

•    SMALLER ROSTERS FOR T-BALL. We recognize that a full 9 players per team in T-Ball results in too many kids per team. This year we will have more teams with fewer kids per team.

•    COACHES HANDBOOK. We are developing a comprehensive coach’s manual that will contain general guidance, age specific drills and sample practice programs so we can improve the confidence and effectiveness of our coaching staff.

•    BETTER COORDINATION with other sports programs in Litchfield. We want to avoid conflicts with the practice and game schedule of other sports.

•    USERS MANUAL. This will be a document that provides the members of the Litchfield Baseball community with all the information they need to be a productive member of our organization.

I welcome your input and ask that you do not hesitate in reaching out to me directly if you have a concern, complaint, suggestion, compliment, or the desire to give back to your community.

We do not require fundraising from our families and the fees for our program are the same or lower than other local baseball programs. We are made up entirely of volunteers and need your help to create an enjoyable experience for your children. We expect every family to donate their time to make the season run smoothly. The roles will be outlined in the user’s manual mentioned above and we expect everyone in our community to live up to their responsibilities.

Creating a positive & healthy athletic experience for the youth of our community is an extremely rewarding experience. We thank you for helping us reach this goal.

I look forward to seeing you at the ball park!

Sincerely,

Russ Pelham
