Josh Mowrey, who led the league in regular season wins, added his second post season victory, pitching the A’s to the American Division title, the fourth championship for the team. It was also the last game for Greg Kelm, who announced his retirement after spending many seasons as a player and more recently, as a manager in the NABA Palm Beach League Six A’s had two hits apiece to lead their 15-hit offense Sawyer Ijams and Henry Wilson knocked in two runs apiece. Chris Saxton had an RBI with a pair of singles. Danny Moya had a double and single, with one run batted in, and Keaton Ijams and Jeff Schector also had a pair of singles each. Kelm scored a pair of runs and had one hit. Greg Koutsis had a hit and brought in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Curt Hibbs added a single.

For the Red Sox, Rich Burns had three singles and drove in a run to lead his team in a losing cause. Mike DeLeeuw had two hits, with an RBI, and Greg Nicholson had a double and a single. Eric Gormley and Andrew Rubin each had a base hit. Mowrey’s control was, as usual, impeccable as he issued no walks, while registering four strikeouts, was never in any kind of serious trouble, going the distance for the win, and earning MVP honors. Red Sox manager Paul Chasse pitched six innings and took the loss. He gave up 13 hits, on eight runs, seven of them earned. He walked four, including one with the bases loaded and struck out three. Will Laughlin pitched the last two innings, giving up a run on two hits. He walked two and posted one strikeout.

The A’s won their first of four league championship, the AA title, the Spring of 2012 as the Blue Jays. They added the Fall AA title in 2014 and the Spring AA title in 2015. Ben Shuffain will take over as field manager for the Red Sox, with Joey Mazzeo bringing the core of his Palm Beach Rays’ team over to the Sox and will handle the team’s administration. Chasse will be concentrating on just playing, especially pitching, after doing such a fine job as the Sox’ manager.
