Niles Centerville Little League – General board meeting minutes Date: October 17, 2005 Called to Order: 7:08pm Presiding Officer: Moira Jacobs Location: NCLL Fields, Fremont Attendees: Neal Duffy, Tommy Woo, Moira Jacobs, Rick Fryan, Kathy Jackson, Cindy Olson, Karla Hubbell, Frank Arredondo, Cole Casey, Mark Stenholm, Crystal Ridge, Gary Williams Minutes: Minutes approved from September 25, 2005 meeting. Kathy Jackson motioned to approve minutes. Neal Duffy seconded. 12 yes. 0 no. Motion carried. Treasurers Report: Tommy says that he has received the checks from registration. District 14 Report: Reggie changed some wording in the revised By-laws. Moira will get and distribute operating manuals. The district would like our opinion on holding all games for tournament(s) at one location per division. Jim J. will attend weeklong umpire training. Anyone else interested needs to sign up immediately. Moira gave the league assessment to Tommy NCLL will ask for equipment to send to MSJLL for hurricane Katrina relief. Cindy will send out an Email. Old Business: Uniforms/Equipment: Karla reported no progress. Dave Mayer will track down the missing Jr. jerseys and equipment. Cindy reported that no progress was made in getting Chevy’s to remit the money from the fundraiser. They had offered to pay us $200 since no records were found but we were given the run-around when asking about the money. Mark will check into it. New Business: By-Laws have been completed and everyone should receive a copy at sign-ups. Registration dates for the 2005 season given. More volunteers needed, most slots filled. Returning manager letters have been sent out, applications due November 5th. Major division will have no redraft so property player letters need to be sent out. Deadline for registration is December 3. Tryout dates were given as January 7 and 8, and January 14 and 15 – same times as last year. Season schedule was given as Opening day: March 11, closing day: June 17, Tournament play begins: June 18. Moira will meet with player agents regarding the number of teams and team names for 2006 season. There was a discussion of having one week of buffer to reschedule games this year as opposed to two weeks like last year. This was in order to have one weekend at spring break off. It was decided that we would start the season on March 4th and have closing day on June 10th in order to accommodate a spring break. Minor A will again have an open lineup for the first half of the season. Karla said that we wouldn’t need to order much new equipment. Neal said that the track should be finished at the end of October. Rich got the school to move its location. T-Ball field now has a dirt infield. Neal is working on the problems with the houses at the major field. He is also getting quotes on batting cages. Need submissions to the newsletter by the 26th of October. Snack bar: Soup was a hit. Moira looking into leasing a soft serve machine. Gary asked about pizza delivery at snack shack. He gave Moira a contact for this. We need a Saturday coordinator. Jerry Moro has agreed to do one more year (only) as safety coordinator. Auxiliary reported that a dunk tank needed to be reserved early. Opening day will be as before, and closing day will be a traditional BBQ. We will do the Big 5 fundraiser again. Neal discussed window and white decals as well as new gift items of clothing for sale. Casino night will be held earlier than last year, April 29. Pictures and hit-a-thon will be held on April 2. Scorekeepers will submit an article for the newsletter. Kathy mentioned that we need new scorekeeping equipment (scoreboard and transmitter units). Challenger still needs a coordinator. All volunteer applications must be in soon. Gary will research Positive Coaching Alliance and other options for training. Open Forum: Neal and Cindy will work on fundraiser letter next week.
