ROUNDING THIRD..RUNNING FOR HOME!
The 2013 Villagers Black Girls are finishing up the season...'rounding third, running for home, full speed ahead!!!
While there will not be a playoff run for the Black this season, it was a campaign of togetherness, improvement and most of all heart.... After a slow start, the Black won 3 of their last 6 games, with a huge win against 2nd place Cranford. Their losses, came against the likes of Warren, Summit and Westfield...all of whom are in the playoff hunt. Every game was a highly contested back and forth affair, with the Black battling against their lack of experience by playing with all of the heart and determination they could muster. Whenever they were down..there was comeback somewhere in the game to make it close..
This team of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders came together in a short period of time. With the weather not on anyone's side this season, these Villagers girls were forced to play alot of games in a short period of time. In the midst of the playoff hunt, they averaged a game a day for 11 straight days. This tough schedule brought the girls even closer and by the end of the season, one thing was for sure... "these girls can score runs." Over the last 4 games, the Black averaged 14 runs a game, with 3 of the teams being the #2 the #3 and the #4 teams in the National West Division. By developing a careful eye at the plate, aggessive baserunning and timely hits, this young Villagers Black team put up the runs against the best the West had to offer. While our pitching is still developing, our hitting is there.... A little better of a start and this team is in the playoffs....
We are so proud of this 2013 Villagers Black team...a brand new collection of girls, most have not played together before. To come together and give it their all for 6 weeks...in the heat, the lightning and the downpours and come out the other side a bona fide team in every sense of the word...incredible.... A great start!

Tonight is the last game for the 2013 Villagers Black Girls....AND WE'RE ON A ROLL!!!! 34 runs in 2 games going for 3 in a row... Lets focus, play hard and have a blast in our final game of the summer!!!!
Game time is 7:15..bring lots of water and Gatorade!!!!

Great Practice yesterday.. This is the week for the Black! We can make huge dent in the win column!! Westfield, Summit, Union and Scotch Plains are all on the schedule...lets play like we know we can play and get some wins for the Villagers!

A big word of congratulations to Anna Williams and Olivia Miller on their selections to the Parkway League All Star team. Anna and Olivia will represent the Villagers Black in the Parkway League All Star Game on Thursday July 11th in Cranford. Come on out and support your teammates as they represent the Black against the best the Parkway League has to offer!! Great job!!
