In previous years, some of the Patriots Juniors Division teams have participated in the District 33 Tournament of Champions (TOC). This year, we are doing something a little different. In an effort to extend the baseball season for all juniors teams, our teams will not be playing in the District 33 TOC this year.
The two middle schools that supply the majority of the players to the juniors division (Pershing and Lewis) have 8th grade east coast trips that occur late in the Patriot regular season. This would force the juniors teams to play the Patriot TOC after about 2/3 of the season so they could play using their entire roster and not be short-handed by having players out for their east coast trips. The Patriot season for all teams would end when the District TOC began, with only a few teams continuing on to play more baseball.
The Board of Directors has decided to try something new this year. At the end of our regular season, all of the Patriot juniors teams will play in our own TOC to determine the Patriot champion. Our TOC will be after all players have returned from the east coast trips and will begin about the same time as the District tournament. This will allow all of our teams to play more games.
SEVERAL OPENINGS FOR THE SPRING 2010 JUNIORS SEASON
There are a couple of spots available for the spring Juniors season. We now have some openings for player registrations due to players making their high school CIF teams.
Please send an email to our Player Agent, Mark Diener, letting him know if you are interested in playing. We've had a great turnout this year and we will have 9 teams in Juniors (age 13 - 14)!
Please see our Registration page for forms and more information.
