Braintree American’s 11 year old team recently won the District 8 Championship and participated in the State Tournament. They began their District play against Hanson in the opening round with a 4-1 win.

Next up was a cross town meeting with Braintree National with the winner advancing to the Championship round. In a very well played game on both sides American led early 2-0 but National fought its way back tying the game at 2 going into the final inning. American pulled it out in the bottom of the 6^th with a squeeze play to advance to the Championship round with a 3-2 win.

The Championship round featured a rematch with Braintree National as they defeated Cohasset in the double elimination tournament to advance. This was the third meeting already this summer between the two with each team winning once. American jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first but National kept battling back in what was another great game between the two and another one run game with American holding on to win 6-5 and winning the District 8 Championship.

Needing to win to stay in tourney Braintree hosted Saugus National. The visitors jumped out early to a 2-0 lead in the top half of the first but after that it was all Braintree in a 14-6 win eliminating Saugus and staying alive for the next round.Against Taunton West on the road next Braintree again needed to win to stay in contention. In what was a close game in the first few innings Taunton’s bat’s came alive in the middle innings and went on to win 9-2 eliminating Braintree from the tournament.
