2nd Place Finish in Tourney

| (Garfield Hts.) The Canfield Cardinals hockey team finished in second place this weekend in the Garfield Hts. Christmas Tournament. The Cards lost in the championship game 5-4 as the Garfield Hts. Bulldogs scored with 17 seconds left to win. Canfield had two wins against Twinsburg (9-1) and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (7-1), and two losses to Garfield (6-0, and 5-4). Canfield scoring consisted of Tyler Buchenic with 5 goals 2 assists, Nick Carney 1g 2a, Scott Sittig 4 g 1a, Riley Emery 3g 7a, Joe Geiser 3g 3a, Dan Johns 1g 2a, and Ben Kline 1g 1a. Steve Stanislaw and Evan Smith scored a goal apiece, while Bryan Clark and Max Siegle added an assist. In the net John Neher stopped 30 of 32 shots in two games and Roger Geiser stopped 66 of 77 shots in two games. Canfield takes a 6-8 season record in to the Christmas break. The Cards resume GCHSHL action January 2nd against Orange at the Pond in Geauga. |
