Weather Cancellation

Posted by Chad McKnight at Apr 13, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Worthington Little League uses Action Answering Service as its primary way to communicate game cancellations (304-424-0040).   We also will be updating the web page with this information in 2010.   A couple key points on weather cancellation:

*Our goal is to get the scheduled games in, so many times the decision to cancel is late in the day.

*Rarely would a decision to cancel be made before 2 pm during the work week.

*We know that not knowing can be difficult and impact your day.  We do ask for your patience.  All of our coaches and league officials are volunteers, who in most cases do not arrive at the fields much before our players and their families.

Safety Rules

Posted by Chad McKnight at Mar 26, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The board addressed several items related to safety.  We ask that parents help our coaches enforce these rules at our fields.

 1.  All baseball takes place inside the fenced areas.  Players should not be outside the playing field warming up or swinging the bat.  Both of these activities endanger family members who are watching the games.

2.  No swinging of bats in the dugout area.  Only the first batter at the beginning of each half inning can warm up with a bat and they must be in the field of play.

3.  Only players should be warming up pitchers on the playing fields and must have a catcher mask and catchers glove on while doing so.

4.  "Donuts" on the bats are not allowed.

Of course as in the past no smoking or pets are allowed at the Worthington Fields.
