16-Under Elk Grove Thunder - fall tryouts

Posted by Phil Venturelli at Aug 8, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Team tryouts for the 16-Under Thunder 2008 fall tournament season are scheduled for Sunday, August 17 (from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) at Betschart Park (Adobe Springs & Bainbridge, Elk Grove).   This is an open tryout to fill our 2008 roster.

Players who make the team will practice 2-3 days per week, and tournament play will begin in mid September, and continue through early November.  There will be little to no travel for our fall season.  The primary focus will be on improving each player’s level of competition, and help them get ready for their 2009 high school season (and into the 2009 tournament season).

E-mail if you are not available for this time and would like to schedule a private try-out, or watch this site for future announcements!

Winterball News

GENERAL WINTERBALL INFORMATION
The following leagues are a part of the NorCal Girls Softball Organization: Antelope Highlands, Carmichael, Colfax, Cordova, Davis, Del Campo, Dixon, Elk Grove, Fair Oaks, Five Cities, Foothill, Foresthill, Gold Country, Lincoln, Na tom as, Nevada County, Orangevale, Placerville, Pocket, Rocklin, Sacramento, Sunrise, and Woodland.

Winterball is a program that allows leagues within the NorCal Organization to compete with one another. For the past six years our league has grown in participation in the Norcal Winterball program.  It has been known that most girls who participate in the Winterball program become stronger players in the Spring season.

Practices begin in August and games are played on Saturday (14U/16U) and Sunday (8U/10U/12U) during September and October.

During the Winterball season the 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U compete in tournaments at the beginning and end of the season (see below for tentative dates). This is a true tournament atmosphere. Your daughter will be involved in a fun and exciting atmosphere throughout the Winter season. Families must keep in mind that there is some traveling involved throughout the season. Depending on which leagues are associated with your division, you will be required to play outside of Elk Grove city.

The NorCal Board has decided that the following game days will be for the following divisions:

  • Games for the 8U, 10U & 12U divisions will be played on Sundays.
  • Games The 14U & 16U divisions will play on Saturdays.

***Player and Coach applications will be available at the General Meeting (June 17), or you can download from this web site and mail in to the League's PO Box.

If you have any questions please e-mail Phil Venturelli at Phil.Venturelli@elkgrovesoftball.com.
Thank you.

MANAGERS/COACHES
All coaches/managers that are interested in having a team must submit their request via e-mail to Phil Venturelli at Phil.Venturelli@elkgrovesoftball.com .  Applications will be taken through July 15, 2009.  Coaches also need to complete a Coaches Application Form (this needs to be done even if you were a registered coach in the spring 2009 season).  Form can be turned in at the General Meeting, or mailed to the PO Box.

In the middle of July, notification of coach acceptance will be given. The main criteria is that all interested coaches must have attended the Mandatory Coaches Meeting in 2009 spring season. Please keep in mind that the President and/or Vice President can deny and/or approve all coaches interested.

The Norcal Mandatory Coaches Meeting will be held at the end of July at the Rancho Cordova City Hall. At least one representative from each EGGSL Winterball team must be present. An additional League Coaches meeting will follow approximately two weeks after the Norcal meeting.
