Lehighton tops Sacred Heart Academy 2-1 in exciting come-from-behind match

The Lehighton Field Hockey team defeated 3-time defending Kentucky State Champion Sacred Heart Academy today 2-1 in a game played at Wyoming Seminary HS.  After a scoreless first-half, it was Sacred Heart who got on the scoreboard first with a penalty corner rebound goal with 21 minutes to go.  Lehighton came back to tie the game on a penalty corner goal by Corri McConville, assisted by Vanessa Rimbey with 15 minutes to go.  Lehighton kept the pressure on by forcing 8 penalty corners in the 2nd half, getting the game winner from Rachel Werley,  assisted by Vanessa Rimbey after a scramble in front of a penalty corner with 4 minutes to go.    Lehighton finished with 19 shots on goal and 9 penalty corners, while Sacred Heart had 4 penalty corners and 8 shots on goal.  Sarah Snyder made 7 saves in goal for Lehighton.

Lehighton is now 11-0 on the year and ranked # 1 in the Nation according to www.hockeypower.com and # 7 in the Nation by www.topofthecircle.com
