2019 KINGS OF THE QUARTER - BRIAN FERGUSON, LUCAS PENNIX, JAMARI GRANT, BRENDAN GEARY

 On Saturday, January 19, 2019, the Marist Track and Field TEAM traveled to Henry Crown Field House at the University of Chicago for a 400m Time Trial. The top 3 Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman would be awarded MEDALS for their performance. The 400m Time Trial would also help the Marist Track and Field Coaching Staff determine future training for all athletes, racing strategy for the 800m, and help decide the RedHawks initial 4x400m Relays and 4x800m Relays for the upcoming Jerry Lowe Invitational.

 Henry Crown Stadium features an athlete friendly atmosphere, upper deck seating, 200m Indoor Track and has been the host to numerous National meets, and local Championship meets as well. The Varsity letter was invented in the 1890s by Amos Alonzo Stagg at the University of Chicago. The main wall of the stadium contains a list of field house records, which include several Olympians. The first Heisman Trophy winner (1935), Jay Berwanger is still listed on the all-time list for Henry Crown for the 55m Dash. Henry Crown Field house is a Chicago landmark that is rich in Track & Field history.

 Marist Junior Brian Ferguson shoe fell off during the first 50m of the 400m Time Trial. Ferguson, recovered instantly, and ran the final 350m in a pure guts race with only one shoe to WIN the 2019 King of the Quarter competion with an outstanding time of 56.76. Ferguson also dropped 2.32 seconds (59.08) from the 2018 King of the Quarter competition.

Marist Junior Caleb Davis finished second in the Junior Class with an INDOOR PERSONAL RECORD of 58.52. Caleb Davis dropped 1.72 seconds (60.24) from the 2018 King of the Quarter competition.

Marist Junior Tyler Thomas finished third in the Junior Class with a season best time of 61.80.

Marist Sophomore Jamari Grant WON the Sophomore division, and finished second overall at the 2019 King of the Quarter competition with an INDOOR PERSONAL RECORD of 58.15. Jovan Marsh finished second in the Sophomore division with a season best time of 59.23. Jovan Marsh dropped 1.11 seconds (60.34) from the 2018 King of the Quarter competition. Kevin Bugos finished third in the Sophomore division with an INDOOR PERSONAL RECORD of 63.30.

Marist Senior Lucas Pennix WON the Senior division, and finished fourth overall at the 2019 King of the Quarter competition with an INDOOR PERSONAL RECORD of 58.55. Alexis Arreola finished second in the Senior division with an INDOOR PERSONAL RECORD of 60.72. Eric Teverbaugh finished third in the Senior division with an INDOOR PERSONAL RECORD of 61.08.

Marist Freshman Brendan Geary WON the Freshman division with a personal best time of 62.43Andrew Kerlin finished SECOND in the Freshman division with a personal best time of 63.45. Michael Coy finished THIRD in the Freshman division with a personal best time of 65.08.
