In the sport of Track and Field, whether you have scored 37 points or .50 a point, every point is vital to the outcome of a meet. In the 2001 Florida High School Regional Track and Field Championships, after an entire day, the difference between the First place Team and Second place Team was only 2/3 of a point. To this day, it is still known as one of the greatest Track and Field Meets in the history of high school Track and Field. Several members of the second place team spent the weekend thinking about what would have happened if they scored 2/3 of a point. In the sport of Track and Field, inches and tenths make a Champion and every athlete is vital to the success of the Team. If you have not scored a point this season, do not worry about it. The most important statistic is the "PR" (Personal Record). If you talk to anyone of the Varsity athletes, they will tell you that if you focus on running, jumping, or throwing your personal best every meet, and making it to every practice, you will see dramatic improvment, and points will take care of themself. All athletes that "PR" in any event in any meet will be awarded a starburst at the next practice.
